McMurdo Joins International Marine Rescue
IMRF’s project seeks to improve maritime search and rescue capability around the world.

The McMurdo Group, provider of a variety of search-and-rescue technologies that includes emergency position indicating radio beacons (EPIRBs), joined the International Marine Rescue Foundation as an associate member and donor. McMurdo said it joined the IMRF to assist in developing cost-effective rescue capabilities, particularly those applicable to mass rescues at sea.

McMurdo noted, “Mass rescue operations remain too big for search-and-rescue organizations to handle routinely; extraordinary capabilities have to be identified and applied.” The IMRF’s project, through its coalition group, seeks to improve maritime search-and-rescue capability around the world by analyzing problems and identifying solutions for faster recovery.
