Los Angeles-based aviation solutions provider Helinet Technologies has been selected by the Swedish National Police (SNP) to develop a customized mission suite for the agency’s seven newly purchased Bell 429 helicopters, as well as the establishment of a nationwide network of ground-based microwave receiver sites. The system will support the agency’s work in counter terrorism and public safety, providing real-time data from the equipped aircraft operating anywhere in the country to officers on the ground.
According to Helinet, the helicopters will be outfitted with new image capture, broadcast and receive technologies and will provide uninterrupted, interference-free streaming of HD video and data across Sweden. Through a microwave downlink, an encrypted Internet protocol will allow the SNP to deliver live streaming video and data anywhere in the world via Wi-Fi, cellular and satellite networks. Each of the helicopters will feature both forward and aft cabin mission stations allowing the system to be accessed from anywhere in the cabin.
The company will provide both initial and recurrent training on the helicopter with a customized, mission-specific approach. “With the largest fleet in the industry and the accommodating Southern California weather, we can offer pilots a comprehensive training regimen with 24/7 aircraft availability,” said Helinet president Alan Purwin.
