AgustaWestland has expanded its helicopter maintenance, repair and overhaul support for operators in the Americas by installing a new transmission test stand at its U.S. facility in Philadelphia. The new stand can be used for testing intermediate and tail-rotor gearboxes.
The equipment, provided by RedViking, can test the transmissions of all AgustaWestland helicopters currently in service in the Americas, including the AW109, AW119, AW139 and AW189. It will also be able to support the under-development AW169.
AgustaWestland’s U.S. facility at Northern Philadelphia Airport spans 275,000 sq ft and employs 560 people. It also includes assembly lines for the AS119Kx and AW139 helicopters, as well as a parts depot and repair station.
