Fairhope, Ala.-based Continental Motors Services (CMS) has added turbine overhaul, repair and sales capabilities to its piston offerings with the acquisition of United Turbine and UT Aeroparts of Miami. The acquisition is part of a continuing expansion that began last July when parent company Continental Motors Group renamed its MRO service group Continental Motors Services. The company also announced it was looking to acquire a prop shop and other potential businesses to create a full-service, customer-centric maintenance center in the U.S. Southeast.
“We saw a need to provide a one-stop-shop for all of general aviation, so we started expanding CMS. Expanding into the turbine market with the purchase of United Turbine affords our customers that may be having avionics work performed [the opportunity] to also have engine, prop or general maintenance, all from the service provider they know and trust,” a spokeswoman for the company told AIN.
United Turbine has been a Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6 overhaul, repair and parts sales facility since 1991 and employs 26 full-time personnel. United Turbine serves the turbine market similarly to the way CMS serves piston operators. In particular, United Turbine provides turbine aircraft engine and accessory maintenance, repair and overhaul services.
