Gogo Biz Offering ATG-4 Technology For Large Bizjets
Gogo Biz to begin shipment in spring of ATG 8000 packages to enable the ATG-4 capabilities.

Gogo Biz has developed an equipment package that brings its ATG-4 technology to corporate shuttles and other large business aircraft. ATG-4, Gogo’s second generation air-to-ground technology, offers increased connectivity speeds and capacity over Gogo Biz’s other ATG options. Gogo began offering the ATG-4 to airlines nearly three years ago, and it is now installed on more than 650 airliners.

For business aircraft, the company is offering a new equipment package, the ATG 8000, that enables ATG-4 air-to-ground capabilities. The package uses directional antennas and dual modems and takes advantage of EVDO  (evolution data optimized) Revision B technology on Gogo’s airborne and ground networks. EVDO Rev. B, the second-generation wireless transmission standard, permits more data throughput on existing airwaves. According to Gogo, ATG-4 can deliver data speeds of up to 9.8 MBps.

Gogo Biz has lined up its first customers, who are undisclosed, and expects to begin shipment in April. Since the equipment package is physically larger than Gogo Biz’s other packages, the ATG 8000 is tailored for the largest business aircraft, such as corporate shuttles, that would have the most need for increased data speeds.
