Dassault Aviation’s revenues during the first nine months fell 14 percent year-over-year, to €2.229 billion, the result of slightly fewer shipments of Falcons, the French aircraft manufacturer announced today. In the first three quarters, the company delivered 38 Falcons versus 41 in the same period last year.

 


Though deliveries were down, sales of Falcons during the nine-month period soared by about €1 billion, to €2.910 billion, from a year ago. Dassault sold 67 Falcons from January 1 through September 30, a 63-percent gain on the 41 Falcons sold in the same period last year.

 


As of September 30, Dassault’s consolidated civil and defense backlog stood at €8.325 billion, up 13 percent from €7.379 billion at the end of last year. The company had a book-to-bill ratio of 1.46:1 over the first nine months, it noted.

 


The first nine months have been a busy time for Dassault Falcon with the <a href="http://www.ainonline.com/aviation-news/ainalerts/2014-05-19/dassault-takes-wraps-ultra-long-range-falcon-8x">launch of the 8X</a> in May at EBACE; the continuation of 5X development, with initial power on in August and subsequent ground testing; rollout of the 250th 7X; and several facility expansions and upgrades. The company will display its Falcon 2000S, 900LX and 7X next week at the NBAA 2014 static display, in addition to the 5X mockup at its booth at the convention center.
