Gulfstream Aerospace promoted Leda Chong to senior vice president for Asia-Pacific yesterday, a position where she will be responsible for business development, strategic planning and government relations within the Asia-Pacific region for both Gulfstream and the aerospace business group at parent company General Dynamics. Chong, who is based in Beijing, has also joined Gulfstream’s leadership team and now reports directly to Gulfstream president Larry Flynn.

She most recently served as the head of the Asia-Pacific region for the General Dynamics Aerospace business group. “During Leda’s tenure, Gulfstream’s Asia-Pacific presence has increased dramatically, and we’ve significantly enhanced our support of cooperative programs focused on the continued development of business aviation,” Flynn said. “She has worked closely with customers, partners and government representatives to develop business aviation initiatives. Her support of aviation programs, such as the U.S.-China Aviation Cooperation Program, helped to showcase the major economic and social benefits of business aviation, implement key regulatory initiatives and design a road map for general aviation growth. This appointment will further strengthen our relationships with all of these key stakeholders.”

Chong will continue to work closely with the region’s aviation industries and authorities to ensure the continued growth of business aviation, Gulfstream said. Before joining General Dynamics in 2007, she served in the U.S. Navy, retiring with the rank of commander. Chong is a native of Hong Kong and fluent in Chinese.
