Ruag Aviation and Lausanne-based design house Yasava Solutions have joined forces to deliver an innovative design concept known as Astral. Intended for large-cabin business aircraft such as the Dassault Falcon 7X, Bombardier Globals and Embraer Lineage, Astral is currently being applied to a Global 6000. The cabin design, with an accent on 21st century luxury, is being showcased at EBACE at the Yasava exhibit (Booth 3439).

Yasava designed Astral using the latest in intelligent ergonomics. It complements Ruag’s expertise in VIP completions and refurbishments, which integrates the latest in inflight entertainment, passenger comfort and connectivity. Yasava’s cabin designs feature zones that can be easily converted for different uses. For instance, the Global 6000 application has a VIP day zone that converts into a double bedroom, while the articulating and swiveling seats can convert into two-meter-long beds. The cabin is equipped with a bathroom featuring full-size shower, and there is also an Astral galley.

In other developments this week, Ruag (Booth 3839) has announced that it is now certified to upgrade the Garmin GNS 430 installed in EASA-registered Airbus Helicopters EC120s to the GTN 650 touchscreen GPS com/navigator. Ruag has also become an authorized service center for the UTC Aerospace’s Winslow range of life rafts for business aircraft. The first checks were carried out in April at Ruag’s Oberpfaffenhofen facility near Munich.

Ruag has also joined forces with Satcom 1 and Emteq to provide an add-on EASA-approved connectivity solution to provide streaming data services for Falcon 7X aircraft. Incorporating the Inmarsat SwiftBroadband high-gain antenna, the system provides data rates of up to 432 kbps.
