Gulfstream G280 Adds Speed Records En Route To Shanghai
Gulfstream’s G280 has logged a total of 47 city-pair speed records, including two during the flight to Shanghai.

Gulfstream’s super-midsize G280 added two speed records during its flight to Shanghai for ABACE 2014, with city-pair records between Germany and Dubai and then on to Hong Kong.

From Germany’s Friedrichshafen Airport, the G280, piloted by Brett Rundle and Bruce Egart, flew 2,751 nm to Dubai International Airport in five hours and 49 minutes, for an average speed of Mach 0.84. The same crew then flew 3,449 nm to Hong Kong International Airport in seven hours and seven minutes, at an average speed of Mach 0.82.

Including these two flights, and the G280 has amassed 47 city-pair speed records. Once the U.S. National Aeronautic Association approves the two new records, they will be sent to the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale in Switzerland for recognition as world records.

Gulfstream also announced that Mandarin Air will be taking delivery of the first G280 to be delivered in China during a ceremony at its ABACE static display area tomorrow at 1:30 p.m.
