Larry Glazer–CEO of Rochester, N.Y.-based commercial/industrial real-estate developer Buckingham Properties and president of the TBM Owners and Pilots Association–was handed the keys to TBM 900 S/N 1003, registered as N900KN, during the U.S. debut of the upgraded turboprop single late last week in Polk City, Fla.


Glazer, who has more than 5,000 hours in TBMs, was already considering an upgrade to a G1000-equipped TBM 850 when Daher-Socata president and CEO Stéphane Mayer called him five weeks ago asking if he wanted to be first in line for the newest version. Despite being given only basic performance data and a selling price of $3.7 million, Glazer, along with 39 others, placed orders for the new TBM 900 just weeks before it was publicly unveiled in France on March 12 as a certified airplane.


Meanwhile, Patrick Daher, CEO of Daher-Socata parent company Daher, surprised attendees at the event in Florida when he revealed that the Tarbes, France-based aircraft manufacturer is “looking to acquire additional manufacturing capabilities in the U.S.” Asked by AIN to elaborate, he said that the company wants to buy an existing aerostructures company within the next year, adding that “all options are on the table” at this point.
