Kansas City Airports Receive Nearly $12 Million in Federal Grants
Kansas City Aviation department received a grant for nearly $12 million for projects at Kansas City International Airport and Charles B. Wheeler Downtown Airport.

Upgrades are coming to Kansas City, Mo.’s two main airports, thanks to the hard work of staffers at the Kansas City Aviation Department. Both Kansas City International Airport and Charles B. Wheeler Downtown Airport have received grants totalling nearly $12 million for improvement projects that range from taxiway upgrades, paving and a fire-fighting vehicle storage facility. Neither airport is supported by general tax fund revenues–both rely exclusively on airport user charges and grants for administration, promotion, operation and maintenance.
