Extant Components Group Holdings has entered into a licensing agreement with Universal Avionics Systems to provide support for Aero-M and Aero-I series satcom products. Extant, through its subsidiary Symetrics Industries, will provide exclusive unit repair and exchange services and related technical support.
According to Gary Boekenkamp, Extant’s v-p of corporate development, Extant establishes relationships with original equipment manufacturers to provide continuing manufacturing and repair support for legacy or non-core electronics and avionics products. “Our goal is to manage the obsolescence issues that frequently accompany these older products and sustain them until the customer’s transition to newer platforms or products,” Boekenkamp told AIN. Symetrics employs 150 technical and support personnel and has a dedicated customer service staff to work with Aero-M and Aero-I operators.
“We are delighted to establish this new licensing partnership with Extant and Symetrics for the continuing support of the Aero-M and Aero-I products,” said Andy Seaton, director of product support for Universal Avionics. “Its extensive in-house manufacturing resources, comprehensive engineering and test capabilities, and long history supporting complex electronics and communications systems will ensure the products are sustained going forward.” Universal Avionics sold approximately 800 Aero-M and Aero-I satcom systems to business and general aviation and military customers.
