Embraer announced its second quarter financial results this morning and the numbers fell into the positive category, with 29 executive jet deliveries, compared with 12 deliveries in the first quarter of this year, and 20 deliveries for the second quarter of last year. The value of the total firm-order backlog, including commercial aircraft, jumped from $13.3 billion at the end of the first quarter to $17.1 billion at the end of the second.

According to Embraer CEO Frederico Curado, the Brazilian OEM is on track to meet low end of earlier guidance of a total of 25 to 30 large executive jet and 85 to 90 light jet deliveries for the year.

He added that with regard to the Legacy 650 super-midsize jet, despite being a little ahead of guidance at this point, “we’re seeing early symptoms of [market] softening.” He said the Legacy 500 program is about halfway to certification with more than 450 flight test hours, and entry into service expected early next year. Certification of the Legacy 450 is anticipated one year later.

In other news for the second quarter, Embraer delivered its first Phenom 300 Signature Series to fractional operator NetJets, sold its first Phenom 300 into the Chinese market, and saw the Legacy 650 certified by Indonesian aviation authorities. Also, its Lineage 1000 ultra-large-cabin executive jet fleet pass the cumulative 10,000-flight-hour mark.
