ICG eRouter Deliveries Begin

International Communications Group (ICG) is scheduled to begin deliveries of its new eRouter in the second quarter.

The “customer-inspired” modifications to the design are expected to “enhance performance [and] make it easier for operators to perform maintenance, set up configuration and access Sim and memory cards without removing the unit from the aircraft.”

The eRouter from Newport News, Va.-based ICG provides airborne connectivity for electronic flight bags, passenger personal computers, smartphones and other IP devices. Small (12 inches by 8.5 inches by 3.75 inches) and lightweight (eight pounds), it offers access to multiple communication networks such as Inmarsat, SwiftBroadband, Ku/Ka band, VSat, Iridium and other networks.

In addition to satcom connectivity, the eRouter provides 4G global mobile cellular service, at a much lower cost, for data and file transfers while the airplane is on the ground.
