NTSB Issues Nose Gear Safety Recommendation to Hawker Beechcraft

The NTSB has made recommendations addressing fatigue cracks of nose landing gear (NLG) end caps on the Beechcraft 1900D. The recommendations stem from the Board’s investigation of several recent incidents, and as a result Beechcraft has changed its recommended maintenance practices for the nose landing gear actuator dated Aug. 1, 2010; May 1, 2011; and Nov. 1, 2011. The 1900D maintenance manual now recommends that the NLG actuator undergo a repetitive ultrasonic inspection every 1,200 cycles once it has accumulated 8,000 total cycles and that it be overhauled every 10,000 cycles.
