Pentastar Aviation Implements Growth in 2013

Building on the recent FAR Part 145 approval of its new maintenance facility in Oxford, Conn. in the final days of last year, Pentastar Aviation is implementing several growth initiatives this year. The certification allows Pentastar to offer customers a range of aircraft maintenance capabilities on the East Coast.

Since the approval, Pentastar has finalized an agreement to acquire Aviation Interior Solutions (AIS), a provider of corporate jet interior services based in Waterford, Mich. Gordon Ross, president of AIS, joins Pentastar as director for interior operations. The acquisition of AIS expands Pentastar’s maintenance offerings to include refurbishment and completion services, cabin entertainment systems and upholstery installations.

As a result of the refined focus on expansion in the Midwest and East Coast regions, Pentastar has decided to exit its current FBO and hangar operations in Van Nuys, Calif. A spokesman for the company said the transition will be done in such a way as to minimize any inconvenience to existing customers.

“As we continue to [expand] our business, we’ve realized it was time to focus our attention on our Michigan and Connecticut locations,” said Edsel B. Ford II, chairman and owner of Pentastar Aviation. “We are grateful to our many friends and associates at Van Nuys for their support over the years. All in all, it is an exciting time at Pentastar and we are looking forward to announcing additional developments in our continued growth during 2013.”
