VisionSafe has entered into an agreement with Banyan Air Service naming the MRO an emergency vision assurance system (EVAS) sales and service center for the Southeast U.S. EVAS is an FAA tested and certified system available for all turboprop and jet aircraft that displaces smoke, enabling pilots to see the flight path and instruments during an emergency.

The compact, self-contained system weighs approximately six pounds, is about the size of a flight manual and costs around $35,000 installed. Part of the agreement includes a simulator located at Banyan’s facility so the MRO can demonstrate how the equipment can aid a pilot in the event of a smoke emergency.

“It takes only one demonstration of a smoke-filled cockpit to prove how EVAS can save lives during an emergency,” said Alvie Barron, Banyan’s director of technical sales. “The EVAS rep will be onsite all day this Friday giving demos. It takes about 20 minutes and it will make you a believer,” Barron told AIN.

An EVAS unit takes only a few hours to install and is approved for aircraft built by Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Cessna, Dassault, Embraer, Gulfstream, Hawker Beechcraft and Learjet.
