Yesterday and today marked two significant milestones for the ultra-long-range Gulfstream G650. The FAA Atlanta Manufacturing Inspection District Office issued the G650's Production Certificate yesterday, December 20, the same day Gulfstream delivered its first fully outfitted G650 aircraft to a customer; and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) issued its Type Certificate today. The G650 received its FAA TC on December 7.

“This is quite an achievement for Gulfstream,” said Larry Flynn, president and CEO of Gulfstream.  “The G650 Production Certificate is a testament to the strength of four departments within Gulfstream—Engineering, Materials, Operations and Quality—along with the Gulfstream ODA [Organization Designation Authorization] to achieve this outcome. Their efforts and the support from the FAA are to be commended.”

The G650, powered by two Rolls-Royce BR725A1-12 turbofans, can travel 6,000 nm at its high-speed cruise of Mach 0.90.  At its long-range cruise speed of Mach 0.85, it can fly 7,000 nm. The G650 has a maximum cruise speed of Mach 0.925, making it the fastest certified civilian aircraft in production.
