Gal Aviation of St. Joseph, Quebec, Canada, has been recognized by Transport Canada as an approved maintenance organization (AMO). The recognition follows accreditations and certifications, including AS9100 Rev. C and Nadcap (alodine and anodizing anticorrosion treatments). Equivalent EASA certification has been applied for and is anticipated by year-end. A bilateral agreement between U.S. and Canadian aviation authorities automatically gains FAA approval following the AMO certificate. Marc St-Hilaire, partner and v-p of business development, told AIN that Gal Aviation has focused on manufacturing work for OEMs. “We do anything that’s woodworking, such as cabinets, and we also do upholstery. We’re now going to expand our business into the refurbishment of in-service corporate aircraft, and that requires Part 145 certification.” The new TC approval allows Gal to perform and certify work on repairs and modifications, and on both composite and sheet metal structures for green and in-service business aircraft interiors. Gal also offers complete airframe technical support through its technical services division. “We are now fully covered and capable of comprehensive cabin work packages for a wide variety of aircraft,” St-Hilaire said.
