Although it has long been a well known name in helicopter circles, Kaman Aerospace made its debut as an NBAA Convention exhibitor this year. A manufacturer with facilities throughout the U.S. as well as in Mexico, the UK, Germany and India, Kaman exhibited a carbon monolithic lightweight door structure, a winglet, an aileron for new business jets, and the company’s flight-control bearing products. “It has been good to attend our first NBAA show and to share with other attendees our extensive and growing capabilities for helping them increase the reliability and lower the maintenance requirements and operating costs of business aircraft,” said Gary Tenison, Kaman’s group vice president for aerospace business development and marketing. The company’s products range from full aircraft, cockpits and other integrated structures to flight control surfaces, high-lift transmission systems and engineering and certification support services. In 2010 Kaman acquired Washington-based Global Aerosystems, which specializes in aerostructure engineering design analysis and FAA certification services, and a year later added Vermont Composites, which designs and manufactures composite aerostructures. The company recently announced it has struck an agreement with India’s Kineco Private to establish the Kineco Kaman Composites-India Pvt joint venture in Goa, to boost its composite structure capabilities.
