Western Jet Opens Reno Maintenance Satellite

Western Jet Aviation, a heavy maintenance facility based at Van Nuys Airport, has opened a satellite maintenance base at Reno-Tahoe International Airport in Reno, Nev. Located in the former Jet West FBO facility, the Western Jet satellite is equipped for light through heavy maintenance and staffed by two mechanics.

Western Jet founder and general manager Jim Hansen said he plans to employ five to 10 mechanics at the Reno facility. “The airport is committed to grow,” he said.

Like the original Western Jet facility at Van Nuys, the Reno base will offer full Gulfstream maintenance services, for older and modern Gulfstreams. At Van Nuys Western Jet shares hangar space with sister company Jet Edge, and both companies launched another Part 145 repair station to add maintenance for Bombardier, Cessna and Hawker Beechcraft aircraft. Western Jet also operates an avionics shop, with dealerships for all the major avionics manufacturers, and offers installations of glass cockpits and cabin management systems. Heavy maintenance capabilities include composites and metal structural repair. Western Jet also offers free digital logbook recordkeeping to its customers, using the V-Log system.
