Flight Display Systems of Alpharetta, Ga., has introduced Select CMS Platinum, a “significant upgrade” of the previous Select CMS.

According to Flight Display president David Gray, the original Select CMS has already been installed as an aftermarket item in more than a dozen different aircraft types. Among them is an MD-81 recently outfitted and delivered by Pentastar Aviation of Waterford, Mich., a project that includes Flight Display’s Blu-ray player, seven-inch widescreen in-seat monitors, and two-button Oled controllers.

Now, he said, the latest iteration has “upped the ante with a product of higher quality, better reliability and lower cost.” And what’s more, he added, it provides wireless cabin control through the passenger’s personal iPad, including audio/video, lights and shades.

According to the cabin electronics specialist, passengers may also view movies, listen to music or look at personal photographs from their personal Apple tablet, iPhone or iPod on the cabin entertainment system. The system is also scalable for any cabin, from a six-seat turboprop to a widebody airliner converted to an executive role.

To ease installation, said Gray, Select CMS Platinum uses common 75ohm rather than Cat5 cable to transmit the high-definition signals.
