New Swiss Helo To Feature ‘High Visibility’ Cockpit
The “high-visibility cockpit” of the SKYe SH09 light single features a wide windshield, thin uprights, large windows (including chin windows) and even a transparent floor between the front seats.

Marenco Swisshelicopter, which announced its helicopter project last year at Heli-Expo, has unveiled the “high-visibility cockpit” of the SKYe SH09 light single, which features a wide windshield, thin uprights, large windows (including chin windows) and even a transparent floor between the front seats. Marenco is emphasizing the expected benefits in surveillance, sightseeing and passenger flights, as well as in carrying external loads. “The high-visibility cockpit will open the sky to your eyes and make the mission more efficient, pleasant and improve safety drastically,” the company said. The aircraft is equipped with 10-inch Sagem primary and multifunction displays, which free up space in front of the crew. Its air-conditioning system has also been adapted to the large transparent surfaces. The first prototype is currently being assembled near Zurich, Switzerland, and the company aims to fly it by year-end. Certification is slated for 2014. Belonging to the 5,500-pound class, the $3 million SH09 will seat five to eight passengers. Deliveries are slated to start in 2015.
