Gulfstream Aerospace has added a mobile support vehicle to its Brunswick, Ga. facility. A spokeswoman for the company said typically there are one to three technicians assigned to a support vehicle on a road trip, depending upon the situation. “In many cases an inspector will go with a technician [mechanical or electrical/avionics] and, if needed, even an interior technician could be dispatched,” she told AIN. The vehicle will cover an area equivalent to a maximum of about eight hours of driving time. “For example, Gulfstream’s facility in West Palm Beach, Florida, has two support vehicles that cover the entire state of Florida. On occasion, Gulfstream West Palm has sent a vehicle to support a customer in a neighboring state such as Alabama,” she said. Mobile support vehicles typically carry aircraft jacks, an air compressor, toolbox and replacement parts. Technicians can perform or support maintenance services such as aircraft jacking, dual engine changes, navigational database updates, tire changes, troubleshooting and repairs. The Brunswick unit joins a U.S. network of more than 20 support vehicles. Another two vehicles are based at its Luton, England facility.
