PAMA Sets January Date for Maintenance Symposium
Eastern Michigan University in Ann Arbor will host the 2012 Professional Aviation Maintenance Association’s National Aviation Maintenance Symposium

Eastern Michigan University in Ann Arbor will host the 2012 Professional Aviation Maintenance Association’s National Aviation Maintenance Symposium on January 19 and 20. “We are still solidifying speakers, but we’re focusing on topics such as customer service, asset management, communication, personnel issues and safety management systems,” Dale Forton, the organization’s president, told AIN. Unlike the large-scale annual convention the organization held until a few years ago, the emphasis is now on a smaller, more carefully developed program. “This is a smaller venue and it focuses more on professional management development. Our target audience is existing managers and supervisors and those who desire to be on a management career track,” Forton said. One carry-over is the opportunity for A&P certificate holders to renew their Inspection Authorization; one notable absence is the PAMA Olympics. “We won’t have the Olympics at this event; however, we have a separate event being worked on by a committee in Texas planning on holding it in 2012,” he said. The two-day National Aviation Maintenance Symposium will be held in conjunction with the annual Great Lakes Aviation Conference.
