The Fliers, a new lounge for business aviation, has opened at Mumbai’s Juhu Airport. Earlier this year, the country’s airport authority shifted all helicopter operations from Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport to Juhu. “Five to six helicopters take off and land here every day,” Rajeev Gupta, CEO of developer Indamer, told AIN. “Though business aviation commuters are elite clients, the airport lacked basic facilities.”
The Fliers facility includes comfortable lounges with refreshments, LCD television, computer and Internet access as well as shower facilities and a meeting room. An in-house coordinator and two CSRs can arrange specialized meal services and city transportation. At present both passengers and crew can use the lounge, but once demand increases Indamar plans to extend the facility to provide separate areas for both.
Other services offered include surface transport for passengers and crew inside the airport, loading and unloading of baggage, parking and business services for the crew. One-time usage of the service per landing or takeoff is available at INR2,500 ($55) for four hours and INR500 ($11) for every extra hour. Indamer also charges INR1,500 ($33) for separate ground services such as ramp handling, routine checks, aircraft cleaning and servicing, security escort, traffic handling and representational services. Yearly service packages are available for individual services and combinations.
