The Block Aircraft Registration Request (Barr) Legal Defense Fund set up last month by NBAA and AOPA is getting strong financial support from a host of regional business aviation associations. “The business aviation community is once again demonstrating its readiness to mobilize behind the industry’s priorities,” said NBAA president and CEO Ed Bolen. “We salute the leaders and members with these regional business aviation associations for contributing to the fund. Their financial backing for our court fight to preserve the Barr program highlights how important it is to the people and companies in our industry.” The Kansas City Business Aviation Association was the first regional group to contribute to the fund, which it did earlier this month, pledging $1,000 and challenging other local groups to match their action. This was immediately followed by a matching commitment from the Colorado Aviation Business Association, and the Georgia Business Aviation Association immediately followed suit with its own contribution to the fund. In the following days and weeks, the Southern California Aviation Association, Greater St. Louis Business Aviation Association, Arizona Business Aviation Association, Wisconsin Business Aviation Association, Connecticut Business Aviation Group and the Teterboro Users’ Group pitched in as well. Court hearings are expected to begin this fall, NBAA told AIN.
