While other OEMs are exploring joint business jet production with Avic in China, Embraer has already secured an agreement with the Chinese company to produce super-midsize Legacy 600s and 650s in Harbin. Embraer had an agreement with Avic to make ERJ-145 regional jets in Harbin until RJ production ended there late last year. It plans to use the same plant and tooling, with some adjustments, to produce around 20 of the ERJ-135-derived business jets per year, targeted primarily at the Chinese market. Production is slated to start soon, with first deliveries expected to occur in the next 18 months, according to Embraer. The Legacys built in Harbin will have Brazilian ANAC certification.
