With its ACJ318 on a demonstration flight and on the display line for the opening of the Latin American Business Aviation Conference & Exhibition, Airbus unleashed a considerable first-time presence at the show in São Paulo, Brazil. On a one-hour flight out of Congonhas Airport, Airbus v-p of executive and private aviation Francois Chazelle took note of the growing market for aircraft with greater range and larger cabins in Latin America, particularly in Brazil. The ACJ318 on display at Labace has an interior built and installed by Lufthansa Technik at its BizJet facilities in Tulsa, Okla. The twinjet is owned by Fly Comlux, a Swiss charter operator based in Zurich. Chazelle also emphasized the endurance of the 19-passenger aircraft, which puts Miami and all of South America within nonstop range of São Paulo. The Brazilian government already operates an executive ACJ319 and Chazelle said the company expects to find a ready market in Brazil for further sales. The Labace show opened August 10 and closes on August 13. Organizers expect some 16,000 visitors, and with nearly doubling of the price of admission this year to $R150 (approximately $92.50), they also expect a more market-minded caliber of attendees.
