Professional Aviation Associates, which claims to be the largest independent parts and rotable supplier for the Beech King Air and Beech 1900, has plans to enter the helicopter market, “particularly [for] the AS350, in a big way,” according to president Glenn MacDonald. To that end, the company has formed an alliance with Accessory Overhaul Group (AOG), an FAA-/EASA-certified repair station specializing in aircraft component testing, overhauling and certification services. AOG has “increased its starter shop manpower and can turn [a starter] around in five days. We have a worldwide sales force and the parts buying power to get a low price; it has the overhaul and repair expertise. For the operator that combination means we can offer the lowest overhaul cost in the market and have the quickest turn times. This venture will provide us with the ability to continue to innovate and grow in the rotorcraft and fixed-wing markets,” MacDonald said. Professional Aviation Associates has already developed a helicopter starter/generator program that includes exchange units, standard overhaul without bill back, and a flat-rate overhaul cost.
