Honeywell’s EASy II upgrade for the Falcon 900 EASy received FAA technical standard order (TSO) approval from the FAA and is slated for certification in the 900 EASy later this year. EASy II is a major upgrade from Dassault Falcon’s original EASy cockpit configuration based on Honeywell Primus Epic avionics and it includes Honeywell’s SmartView synthetic vision, satellite-based augmentation system (SBAS) approaches, ADS-B Out, required navigation performance authorization required (RNP AR) capability, automatic descent mode, SmartRunway (formerly Raas), XM WX graphical weather, electronic charts, FMS improvements, autothrottle takeoff and go-around improvements and more. The big change for EASy II is the way SmartView is portrayed on the pilot flight displays, with the synthetic view of the outside world visible on the entire display, behind the transparent flight data symbology. EASy II is also compatible with European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service (Egnos), which allows for development of precision GPS-based approaches. Once certified on the Falcon 900 EASy, the upgrade will be available for installation on new Falcon 900LXs and as an upgrade on the 900 EASy models.
