Pratt & Whitney has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Comac, the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, for cooperation on leadership training. The programs, conducted by the Pratt & Whitney Customer Training Center in collaboration with Hamilton Sundstrand and Sikorsky, provide targeted curricula for senior executives, mid-level managers and high-potential employees. Training is scheduled to begin in the middle of this year. “Part of the leadership training will be done in the United States in conjunction with select universities and part of it at United Technologies’ East Hartford training center,” Liping Xie, UTC’s senior managing director for aerospace business units in China, told AIN. UTC is Pratt & Whitney’s parent company. Liping said training done at P&W’s Beijing Customer Training Center will be aimed at middle management engineers and employees Comac identifies as candidates for advancement into management. “[The training] will be of a more technical nature and focus on continuous improvement programs,” he said. “We signed this training cooperation MOU with UTC because it offers opportunities for employees at all levels of Comac to learn critical leadership and technical skills from a trusted and respected OEM,” said Yan Hua, Comac’s assistant president and general manager for human resources.
