Cessna Aircraft has positioned its 12th U.S.-based mobile service unit (MSU) at Preferred Jet Center on Cobb County Airport-McCollum Field near Atlanta. It is tasked with serving Citation customers primarily in central and northern Georgia, southeastern Tennessee and northeastern Alabama. MSUs are assigned two full-time technicians and are equipped to support scheduled and unscheduled maintenance up to and including engine changes on the Citation X. “The MSUs are administratively attached to one of our eight U.S. service centers but located remotely from them. Typically we’ll find an FBO at an executive airport, enter into an agreement with them and base the MSU there. By spreading the assets around it gives us a larger service footprint,” a Cessna spokesman told AIN. All Cessna service centers in the U.S. are owned and operated by Cessna. Cessna plans to position six additional MSUs this year, including one next month in Missouri. Other proposed locations include one in Canada and a second in Europe; there is currently one MSU located in France. U.S. MSUs are now located in Texas, California, Colorado, Indiana, Florida, Georgia, Ohio and North Carolina.
