More than a month before release of the FY2010/11 financial results by parent company Bombardier, Inc., Bombardier Aerospace released business jet delivery numbers for FY2010/11, and despite an “especially strong” fourth quarter, deliveries for the fiscal year were down, to 143 from 176 in FY2009/10.
&nbsp;Shipments are “essentially in line with the previously announced guidance to deliver approximately 15 percent fewer business aircraft,” according to the Canadian aircraft manufacturer. The delivery breakout by model includes 33 Learjets, 63 Challengers and 47 Globals.
While combined deliveries of Learjets and Challengers dropped, from 44 and 82 in the previous year to 33 and 63 in FY2010/11, the large-cabin Global series (Global 5000 and Global Express XRS) drop was less sharp, from 50 in 2009/10 to 47 in 2010/11.
“With a comprehensive portfolio of products, we believe our fundamentals are strong in the long term for both the business and commercial aircraft markets,” said Bombardier Aerospace president and COO Guy Hachey.
As of February 1, Bombardier is reporting financial results under International Financial Reporting Standards and will request approval from its Board of Directors in December 2011 &nbsp;to establish fiscal year reporting commensurate with the calendar year, ending December 31. Assuming board approval, this would result in an initial fiscal year 2011 of 11 months, as the company’s most recent fiscal year ended Jan. 31, 2011.
Therefore, based on an 11-month fiscal year 2011, Bombardier Aerospace announced it expects to delivery approximately 150 business jets in that period.
Also at Bombardier Aerospace, the Montreal-based OEM celebrated delivery of its 300th midsize Challenger 300 on February 17. And a week later, Bombardier announced expansion of its international support network with establishment of a parts delivery service based in Dubai. A dedicated, fast-response PartsExpress Challenger 601 is available 24/7 to transport parts, technicians and test equipment at a moment’s notice. The service will support Bombardier business jet owners and operators across the Middle East and beyond, into Turkey, Kazakhstan, India and North Africa. –K.J.H.
