WAI honored five new inductees in its Pioneer Hall of Fame at the Women in Aviation conference:

• L. Tammy Duckworth, Black Hawk pilot and current assistant secretary for public and intergovernmental affairs for the Department of Veterans Affairs

• Major General Susan Helms, director of plans and policy for the U.S. Strategic Command, a flight-test engineer and a former NASA astronaut

• Hazel Ying Lee, one of the first Chinese-American women to earn a pilot’s certificate and a member of Wasp Class 44-18

• Mary Ann Martin Wyall, a Wasp who, for the past 45 years, has preserved and shared the history of the Wasp

• Dr. Peggy Chabrian, founder and president of WAI These women laid the foundation for those who followed, making it easier for them to follow their passion by providing role models for them within the industry. o
