Taj Air and Metrojet have formed a joint venture offering aircraft maintenance and management services in India. Based in Mumbai, the operation initially will use the existing Taj Air facility while a new, larger facility is being built. “Metrojet is proud to embark on this venture and combine with Taj Air to better serve the Indian market,” said Björn Näf, CEO of Metrojet. Metrojet also announced plans to develop an MRO at Clark in the Philippines. Ground breaking is expected within the next 60 days with an anticipated completion early next year. “The space in our Hong Kong facility is limited and we need to expand our business outside Hong Kong to support the growing demand for business aviation in Asia. We believe choosing Clark, with its close proximity to Hong Kong, will allow us to remain the leading business aviation company in Asia,” Näf told AIN. The 40,000-sq-ft facility will offer the same maintenance services and support as Metrojet’s Hong Kong facility, as well as a planned expansion of avionics upgrades, interior refurbishment and exterior paintwork.
