Hawker Beechcraft Global Customer Support (GCS) is augmenting its existing service and support resources with the addition of dedicated air and ground mobile support vehicles. According to Christi Tannahill, Hawker Beechcraft vice president for global customer support, the new ground vehicle is built on a 33,000 GVW Freightliner chassis and includes a customized service platform. The initial air support vehicle is a King Air B200 that will be supplemented with other Hawker or Beechcraft aircraft in the future. “The ground-support vehicle is equipped with an onboard generator, an air compressor, a hydraulic power unit, an electric power cart and a multi-purpose crane capable of lifting 10,500 pounds to support maintenance at remote locations,” she told AIN. “The crane [allows] engine changes on all Hawker Beechcraft aircraft, including the Hawker 4000. The support truck is also equipped with common and specialized tools, servicing equipment, test boxes, aircraft lifting jacks and numerous spare parts.” According to Tannahill, the truck is staffed with two A&P technicians and can carry up to five technicians as necessary based on customer needs.
