The Transportation Security Administration has transferred authority over the DCA Access Standard Security Program (DASSP) from its security operations office to its general aviation division under the leadership of GA manager Brian Delauter. The agency recently named several new gateways to the program, which approves airports and FBOs thereon as launch points for general aviation flights destined for Washington Reagan National Airport (DCA). Jacksonville International Airport, Fla. (JAX) and Decatur Airport, Ill. (DEC) have now been added. Under DASSP rules, before a flight is granted access to land at DCA it must first be cleared by TSA inspectors at an approved FBO at a gateway airport. Signature Flight Support will handle those duties at JAX and Gaitros Aviation will serve that role at DEC. The agency also added First Aviation Services to its approved FBOs at Teterboro Airport in New Jersey, where it joins Signature Flight Support, Meridian and Jet Aviation in providing screening facilities on the field. FBOs interested in adding TSA DCA clearance to their offerings should contact agency representative Zach Carder at zach.carder@tsa.gov.
