AviITís eMan Solution, an Internet-based, centralized technical publications management and delivery system, will be implemented all of Era Helicopters bases. Stewart Stavley, Era Helicopters v-p of maintenance, said the system reduces the number of paper subscriptions and the manpower required to update and distribute the paper documentation. ìWe operate about 180 aircraft at probably 35 different locations and were annually spending $202,000 on maintenance publications. The eMan Solution reduces our annual cost to about $114,000 and that doesnít include the savings on the labor of updating and distributing paper,î he told AIN. Stavley said there are some hidden costs, such as the requirement for a few additional computers and printers. ìThe biggest issue is FAA compliance; we can get information out to everyone, everywhere. [Before implementing this system] if an aircraft was AOG somewhere we had to fax pages and pages of documentation. Now [employees] can get it on the Internet. It also serves as an audit and compliance tool in that we can monitor if the techs are using the manuals to do the work.î
