Colt International is now offering a “turnkey solution” for flight departments that must comply with the European Union emissions trading scheme (EU-ETS). The aviation fuel, flight support and insurance provider said its new Emission Reporting Program will ensure that operators comply with the March 31 deadline to submit verified 2010 emissions data. Its $2,250 program will “record, monitor, error check and safeguard all relevant flight data and then build the proper reports necessary for verification,” Colt said. “These regulations are a challenge for any flight department,” noted Colt International flight operations manager Pete Bennett. “The investments of time and manpower necessary for managing and reporting emissions data can be a big distraction. Inaccuracies or errors in the data will result in overpayment of emission charges, under-allocation of carbon credits and eventually fines or penalties.” Colt’s system is designed to be able to collect and report data even if customers are not using Colt for international trip support. The company’s relationships with several EU-ETS verifiers will also translate into preferential pricing, Bennett said.
