HNA Group of China and Bravia Capital of New York will acquire a majority stake in myTechnic. According to Daglar Cizmeci, CFO, board member and investor in myTechnic Aircraft MRO Services, the company is the first lean (zero waste) greenfield maintenance, repair and overhaul center in the world. Opened in 2008, myTechnic is an EASA-licensed MRO located at Sabiha Gökçen International Airport on the Asian side of Istanbul, Turkey, supporting Airbus and Boeing aircraft for the Middle East, Europe, Near East, Russia and Northern Africa region. The three-story, 650,000-sq-ft facility has no fixed service bays, providing maximum flexibility for capacity planning and scheduling. “We use natural gas for heating, thereby reducing our carbon footprint, and emphasize floor heating, which minimizes convection requirements but provides maximum heat on a specific area where it is needed,” Cizmeci told AIN. The company also minimized the use of aesthetic material in construction. “We minimized the initial material usage, making the facility functional without excess architectural ornamentation and we don’t use colored siding or glass panels. Even the concrete is left its natural color,” he said. “The goal is to [eliminate] any unnecessary waste-producing elements [from] the equation.”
