The FAA has assigned the Aviation Rulemaking Advisory Committee (ARAC) the new task of reviewing and submitting recommendations in response to the agency’s intent to “update, reorganize and improve the level of safety of requirements for flammability of materials.” Because the task could result in “a significant change” to the type certification requirements, the FAA is “interested in obtaining international harmonization.” To this end, the agency is seeking members for the ARAC. Those interested and who have the proper expertise should contact Jeff Gardlin of the FAA’s airframe/cabin safety branch at (425) 227-2194.
