Spanish FBO group Assistair Business Aviation Handling saw 10-percent growth in traffic levels in the first six months, compared with the same period last year. The company has five bases–at Palma de Mallorca, Barcelona, Valencia, Ibiza and Gerona. Assistair's busiest period came in June when Valencia staged the Formula One European Grand Prix car race. The FBO handled 30 aircraft during the four-day period and was able to arrange for jets to taxi directly to the FBO terminal. Assistair opened two new FBOs last year. "While the economic climate in Spain and Europe is still difficult, we have seen an increase year on year," said CEO Catherine Gaisenband.
