FltPlan.com, an online flight-planning company that caters to business aviation operators, said it set new records for the number of flight plans filed with the FAA this summer. According to FltPlan.com, it handled 14.5 percent more business jet and turboprop flight plans in August than a year earlier. The number of flight plans filed also increased a similar amount in June and July, the firm noted. "It is now clear that 2009 was the low point for business flying, since the economic downturn hit in the fall of 2008," the company added. FltPlan.com claims it now computes and then files with the FAA more than 65 percent of all flight plans for the turbine business aircraft fleet in the U.S. Its flight-plan filing service is free for airplane operators. "It is gratifying to see business flying show recovery from the economic recession, and FltPlan.com is making continuous improvements to serve pilots and aircraft operators better," said FltPlan.com vice president Bruce Connolly.
