Cavu Companies has added a new hold-over time (Hot) module to its EFB-Pro performance software to help pilots ensure compliance with regulatory re quirements for ground anti-icing/de-icing fluid application and pre-takeoff icing checks. The Hot module costs $250 for the first year and $100 for annual renewal. Current EFB-Pro subscribers can upgrade for the $100 renewal price.

Hold-over times are needed because anti-icing/de-icing fluids work for only a limited amount of time, depending on factors such as fluid type, precipitation type and intensity, wind and temperature. 

Cavu's Hot module incorporates the latest Hot tables published by manufacturers of anti-icing/de-icing fluids and annually by regulators. The user starts the module's timer after application of de-icing fluid is completed and when anti-icing fluid application begins. When the applicable hold-over time is used up, the software's "start" button and the timer turn red.
