Vista Aviation of Pacoima, Calif., has completed the first STCed helicopter installation of an Avidyne EX600 multifunction display (MFD)–in a Eurocopter AS350B AStar. “We have installed quite a few Avidyne MFDs, and we were excited about being the first dealer to install an EX600 in a helicopter,” said Bill DeBarmore, Vista Aviation’s avionics manager. “The installation went smoothly and the customer was delighted with how it turned out.” According to an Avidyne spokesman, the EX600 provides helicopter operators with versatile radar and safety-sensor interface compatibility. The installation incorporates an all-new 5.8-inch diagonal, 640- by 480-pixel display and Avidyne’s QuickPan map panning keys. It also includes an Avidyne TAS610 traffic advisory system, a TWX670 color tactical lightning detection system and an MLX770 two-way datalink transceiver. The EX600 starts at $9,990 for the standard MFD with CMax electronic approach charts, worldwide airport diagrams and standard interfaces for traffic and color lightning. Upgrades from an existing EX500 to an EX600 start at $5,495.
