Moline, Ill.-base Elliott Aviation has received supplemental type certificate (STC) approval from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) for the installation of a Honeywell digital flight data recorder (DFDR) in the Beechjet 400/400A and Hawker 400XP. Elliott earned FAA certification for the installation in January. “A DFDR is not required in the U.S. but many countries require that class of aircraft to have a digital flight data recorder. If you own a Beechjet 400/400A or Hawker 400XP and want to sell it to someone in a European Union country it will be required to have a DFDR,” Mark Wilken, Elliott Aviation’s director of avionics sales and product development, told AIN. “The installation has to be done under an STC, and we’re currently the only provider to hold an EASA-approved STC to put a digital flight data recorder in the aircraft. We have the parts available and can complete the project in three weeks. We can also do the pre-purchase inspection at the same time, as well as paint and interior,” he said.
