Ian Sheppard has acted as Editor International Show Editions for AIN since June 2013. Based in the Redhill, England, Ian reports for the various AIN publications as well as providing support to International Editor Charles Alcock in covering international air shows (such as Farnborough, Paris, Singapore and Dubai), and the EBACE and MEBA business aviation events. His central role is to cover Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).
Prior to becoming more involved with AIN in mid-2011 (initially as deputy international editor), Ian worked for various aviation publications through his company, First Aerospace Media. This included being part of the AIN team covering daily news at international air shows.
Ian has worked for publications such as Flight International (technical reporter, 1997-8) and Aerospace International (editor, 1999-2000). He was publications manager at Airclaims (Ascend) between 2000 and 2004 before forming First Aerospace Media. Since mid-2009 Ian has also been managing editor of Regional International, the journal of the European Regions Airline Association (ERA).
Ian hasis working towards a European commercial pilot licence, having held an FAA private pilot license in 1991, and instructor rating. He also has a degree in aeronautical engineering from the University of Bath, England, and a graduate diploma in law from Kingston University, and is a graduate of the legal practice course (College of Law, Guildford).

Medaire (Booth No. 1425) has secured a deal to provide its equipment starting this summer for all new Hawker Beechcraft aircraft sold. This will include optional medical training and 24/7 access to doctors.
For the first year Hawker Beechcraft will cover the cost of subscribing to the MedLink Global Response Center, which includes online medical and travel advisories to assist crews. “Owners and operators will be in the safest hands should a medical event occur in flight, on layover or while traveling away from home,” said Medaire CEO Grant Jeffery.
The company also has announced an upgraded version of its Management of I-flight Illness and Injury course, which prepare pilots and cabin crew for in-flight emergencies. Students become proficient in use of automated external defibrillators, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), victim assessment and other key medical areas.
According to Medaire, the recurrent medical training it provides can now be combined with the training for using Remote Diagnostics Technologies’ Tempus IC system, which allows non-medical users to transmit clinical vital signs data, voice and video to MedAire’s Medlink Global Response Center.
Hampshire, UK-based RDT (Booth No. 1567) started selling its Tempus IC system in 2008, and it now has 600 units in use, over one-third of which are on business jets. RDT is offering a special price for purchases agreed here at EBACE, where orders are confirmed by May 21.
Medaire is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. The U.S.-based company has just opened a new office in Geneva, staffed by former International SOS employees Emmanuel Chevron and Rayan Fetouni.
