TraqPak data released yesterday by aviation specialized services firm Argus shows that business aircraft flight activity last month rose 8.5 percent from a year ago. On an adjusted month-over-month basis, traffic climbed 12.9 percent from February. By aircraft type, midsize jets led the pack with a 13.4-percent increase from year-ago levels, followed by light jets (up 10.6 percent), large-cabin jets (up 5 percent) and turboprops (up 3.8 percent). By type of operation, Part 91 flying increased 11.5 percent from the same period last year, while Part 135 charter operations rose 5.5 percent and fractional flying climbed 4.7 percent. Notably, midsize jet activity at both Part 91 and 135 operators soared by more than 16 percent year-over-year, and Part 91 light jet traffic wasn’t far behind with a 14.6-percent increase. Thanks mostly to Avantair, fractional turboprop flying climbed 10.2 percent from March 2008. Argus’s TraqPak data “is serial-number-specific aircraft arrival and departure information on all IFR flights in the U.S.”
