Midcoast Aviation Earns STC ODA Designation
The FAA has approved a supplemental type certificate organization designation authorization (STC ODA) for Midcoast Aviation.

The FAA has approved a supplemental type certificate organization designation authorization (STC ODA) for Midcoast Aviation. The designation enables the company to produce STCs in-house in support of its maintenance, repair, overhaul and completions activities. The new status replaces the company’s previous designated alteration station (DAS) approval. The change supports the FAA’s goal of improving efficiency by allowing a qualified entity to perform certain functions. Midcoast Aviation’s 100-person engineering department provides the design, analysis and testing required to support the complex and customized systems requested by Midcoast’s customers. Last year Midcoast produced 12 DAS STCs with the assistance of the FAA. It is now able to execute them with its own ODA resources. “Earning the STC ODA designation is a testament to the strength of Midcoast Aviation’s engineering team,” said Don Petersen, Midcoast’s president. “Midcoast Aviation provides highly personalized solutions for its clients. Being an STC ODA will allow us to better serve our customers.”
